Catch & Release

about

In his third single off the upcoming “Heart Matter” EP entitled Catch & Release, Tim De Cotta explores the ultimatums in love as it paints the picture of a squabble within the relationship of a hopelessly in-love; but currently fighting; couple. No matter how bad things get, the song captures how difficult it is to stay mad or angry at someone you truly love.

It’s easy to lose your sense of self when you fully give yourself to someone else. Catch & Release explores the delicate “higher ground” that people in love seem to exchange throughout their relationship. When love is tested, unfair advantages tend to rise to the surface. But true love isn’t about domination but rather, respect and acceptance, as unconditional love always catches you when you fall.

But as you learn about the person you’re in love with, sometimes, it’s easy to worry about whether he or she will truly catch you when it comes down to it; and these moments inadvertently become the tests or biting points for moving forward in love.

Steeped in 80s drum machine vibes ala ‘Juicy Fruit’ by Mtume (sampled famously by Biggie) Catch & Release is about those crucial moments, when you are vulnerable and powerless in love, and what happens to you and her/him/them is out of your control. We’ve all been there, as love is most definitely, a two-way street.

Will there be a resolution? Listen and find out. Catch & Release will be available on all digital platforms on 9 October 2020.

This single is a part of Tim’s upcoming Heart Matter EP that will drop late 2020.

lyrics

\(Verse 1)
You don’t know what you do to me baby when you let go
I get so tired and confused baby I say “Come on…

It’s unfair"
You don’t care...

You rather leave me in the dark like I’m not there…
Then you act like really ain’t got time to spare
So unfair
I don’t care...

So I act like I don’t give a damn but I do
Cos all I really give a damn about is you
Only you…

(Chorus)
Are you gonna catch Me
When I fall
Or will you go for the release?
(Please don’t go for the release)

Are you gonna catch Me
When I fall
Or will you go for the release?
(Please don’t go for the release)

(Verse 2)
72 missed calls I’m convinced you’re not real
Cos it seems you don’t even have a heart
You Don’t Feel
What I feel!
What’s the deal?

All of a sudden you come back asking me how I’ve been
Like it ain’t made no difference I had no Queen
Where you been?! (Come on girl)

Then I’m torn cos I’m mad, but you’re so beautiful
I take a deep breath and I’m calm and we’re here and your all
All I need… but…

(Chorus)
Are you gonna catch Me
When I fall
Or will you go for the release?
(Please don’t go for the release)

Are you gonna catch Me
When I fall
Or will you go for the release?
(Please don’t go for the release)
